*Ethan is 5 years old and was adopted domestically. Ethan is not the youngest in his current home and that is causing a lot of problems. His family feels that he would do best as the youngest in the home and we are looking for a homestudy ready family with no other children under the age of 10 to adopt him. If this fits you, please write to us for the full story of why this little boy needs a new adoptive home. ![]()
Please write to secondchanceinfo@wiaa.org .![]()
Ethan enjoys doing crafts and coloring. He really likes building and playing with Legos. He prefers to have Lego kits and instructions; and will become frustrated if imaginative play is required. He will say, “I can’t build anything” if there are no instructions. With age-appropriate instructions, he can work independently. What he likes about Legos is the building part—once he’s done building, he will disassemble the piece and put everything away with the instruction booklet. If it is a car or motorcycle, he can play appropriately with it (including making the noises that go along with the machine). He also enjoys watching Lego versions of TV shows like Batman, Star Wars and Scooby-Doo. He is also a big Ghostbusters fan and it is something he and his older brother can play together Ethan can organize the other two children in the home to ‘fight crime’ together—they will have a pretend phone call where they will say, “Oh, you have a ghost?” and then go ‘bust’ the ghost for the caller. Ethan can throw a ball very well and seems to be gifted athletically.
Ethan’s adopted family told us that he has a fierce sense of independence and high degree of confidence. He believes he can do anything and doesn’t need help or support to do it. It’s hard to teach him new things; it took him a full year of weaning off training wheels because he wouldn’t accept help or instructions. He can ride a 2-wheeler now. Recently, he tried ice skating and refused the ‘walker’, so he stumbled through hanging onto the side of the rink the entire time.![]()
Ethan’s favorite colors are blue and green. HE loves burgers and pizza. He is getting good at soccer and has a scooter and bike he likes to ride. He loves Spiderman and most super heroes. Ethan keeps his room tidy and organized but will resist cleaning up after playing or crafting in a common space. He is able to do all self-care by himself besides flossing his teeth.![]()
This is a private adoption, so a state or foster home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need to have a current, or easily-updated home study for this adoption.![]()
Due to state laws, we are not able to place this child in CT, MA, OR, NY, or DE. If you live in WI, please let us know, as the adoption process may be longer and more expensive than what is listed in our paperwork. If you have never had a home study before, we cannot help you adopt this child. But we would love to share with you the process of starting a home study so you could be approved for a child in the near future. Please write to us and ask us how to get started! If you are a U.S. citizen living overseas, we may be able to work with you depending on a few details.![]()
Adoption is a legal process so there will be costs associated. This adoption may qualify for the IRS Adoption Tax Credit.![]()

*To protect the privacy of our waiting children and their families, Second Chance does not share real names for our waiting children on the Internet. It is our policy to only share a snippet of a waiting child’s details as well as the type of adoptive family we are looking for. If you fit the POSTED REQUIREMENTS, are home study ready (or can be soon!), and interested in adding this child to your family, please write to us for an honest, in-depth profile on the child including medical, educational, and behavioral information and learn the full story of why this child needs a secondary adoption. Our program social worker and program director have worked together with the child’s family to carefully set the requirements for the new family. These requirements are not negotiable, so please honor the needs of this child by not asking us to bend them for you.

We LOVE hearing from our ASA Alums ... see a fantastic family who worked with ASA in 2008 (big brother came home from OK) and 2009 (twin sisters from FL). ![]()
They are the epitome of the "give back" family as the adoptive mom, who owns a retail shop in NC, gifted a grant to a waiting ASA family who adopted a baby boy in 2022 with help from her generous grant. It is our joy & pleasure to share these beautiful photos.💙💗💗

What a pair! Sister was brought home to her WI family through ASA's adoption provider friends in 2020. Then her baby brother arrived in 2023! Amazingly, both babies were born in FL and placed through different adoption agencies. It is always our joy to see how great our families' grow up their cherubs. We just had to share the love today!💙💗![]()
If you are a former (or current) ASA family and would like to share updated photos of your child/children, please contact us, we would love to see how great your family is doing.

We are positively delighted to welcome this sweetpea to the ASA family! After two disruptions, this FL family was overjoyed to receive a call about a born baby girl in AZ, and hopped on a flight to meet their daughter right away. What a pleasure it was to work with this family as they navigated the highs and lows of adoption while they waited for their daughter to find them! <3

Here is our latest CONGRATULATIONS for today ;) ....We welcome home and congratulate a WI family on the adoption of their toddler son. They have our highest admiration as they learned of this little guy's story two weeks ago, submitted their profile, got chosen in 24 hours and in 2 days drove from their home in WI to the State of CO to take placement. We just love it when families are eager to become parents. Help us celebrate this new family of three. 👨👩👦💙
